We all want our children to find the right roads in life. The road to success, honor, and stability. We believe that these roads begin very early in life. We believe that they are ultimately found in the person of Jesus Christ. Our mission at Discovery Bay is very simple: Discovery Bay is a place where kids become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ through relationship. Our relationships are formed from our committed leaders, in-depth Bible teaching, and fun-filled atmosphere. We strive to create an environment of fun and faith every Sunday morning! We believe that, as a church, our message has to be relevant for our kids. That’s why our Bible based curriculum, from infant to 5th grade, seeks to meet every child where they are–no matter the age or grade.
Here’s what you can expect from us:
D~Dedicated Leaders~ Our team of faithful leaders is committed to seeing your children grow in faith. They believe in their calling and are being challenged and equipped to serve at their best. Our teams meet before every service to connect over the curriculum and pray for our children. Feel free to drop by and sit in on one of our small groups!
I~Intentional Lessons~ We see every Sunday morning as an opportunity! That’s why our leaders come prepared with lessons that help train our children for their own prayer lives, Bible reading, and faith ownership. It’s our hope that ever story and every question moves that child closer to Jesus.
S~Sweet Events~ How fun can going to church be? Come to Discovery Bay and find out! Our large group events are designed to provide a place for kids to have fun and learn more about Jesus. With events like Breakaway, Easter Fun Day, and our other seasonal celebrations it’s hard to not call church fun. Also, our Fall through Spring midweek event, The Journey, allows your child a place to reconnect with God and friends on a weekly basis.
C~Caring Staff~ Our staff is available to meet your needs and concerns on a daily basis. We strive to assure you that your child has the highest level of safety and security while attending any church event. Our desire is to see kids grow in Christ, but our strategy is to be a resource, guide, and encourager for your ministry to them at home.
O~Opportunities~ We want Discovery Bay to be a place where a child’s faith is taken seriously. What is a more powerful testimony than a child’s faith in action? Children are capable of being world changers and we desire to provide them with the opportunities to do just that. Our vision is to see children serve in their community and across the world. These are opportunities they will never forget.
V~Validating Faith~ A child’s faith, prayer life, and interaction with God’s Word are essential tools in discipleship. We provide opportunities for our children to craft their own testimony and to discover discipleship within their own peer group. Their relationship with God will be provided with the opportunities to give ownership to their faith.
E~Engaging Worship~ Our worship is alive and loud! Through live worship, interactive motions, and thoughtful lyrics our songs seek to place the child in the presence of an awesome God. God receives the glory through the songs and raised hands of our children.
R~Relationships~ Discipleship isn’t possible without relationship. That’s why we cover our programs with leaders and staff that are directed to care. They will cover your child in prayer through the week and seek to become a friend through every moment and season.
Y~Your Resource~ We want Discovery Bay to be your resource for all things Children’s Ministry. We don’t want you to stress about finding the right resources (books, websites, etc.) for your child’s spiritual development. We strive to provide you with the latest and best options available that are hand-picked from each of our staff members. Whatever spiritual season you and your child may be going through, feel free to connect with us any time!
Meet Our Children’s Director!
Our Children’s Director is Rob McGee. Rob is passionate about seeing kids changed as a result of discipleship through relationship. He received his B.A. at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL as well as his M.Div at Golden Gate Seminary in Mill Valley, CA. He partnered with his wife, Holly, in co-founding a ministry called Family Small Groups which seeks to aid families with young children in discovering core truths of the Bible together. He believes that ministry to children should be the primary focus and drive of today’s church. His most important work is in guiding and equipping his own children, Silas (4 years old) and Ruby (18 months), towards discovering the journey that God has planned for their lives.
